Freddie the killer Queen

23 november 2018 - Tuxtla Gutiérrez, Mexico

If you are reading everything that appears on my blog, than you know already I like to spend some time at the cinema on my free days. (Also, if you are reading everything that appears on my blog I want to thank you and congratulate you with your perseverance.) Movies and cinema has always appealed to me and has always been a medium that had the ability to touch me emotionally, I need to enjoy it while I'm here. A ticket in Belgium does cost about 10 euros as I remember, here I pay 45 peso (a little over 2 euro...). So far I've been two times to the big screen in Tuxtla, and two times inner strings were touched. I'd like to share those experiences.

Freddie the Killer Queen.

The movie 'Bohemian Rhapsody' is by far one of the best movies I have ever seen. This was a great cinematic experience. Yes I have always loved the music of Queen, (as it goes with the band Queen, you either love it or you hate it) but even the haters got to admit that the movie makers did a great job. Freddie Mercury really was an inspiring human being. I feel sad I was born to late to be able to see him perform live. I think we should all take an example to Freddie. No I am not suggesting we should from now on all wear a porn-mustache, identify as bisexual and go live a life of sex, drugs and rock'n roll (although if that's your thing, by all means don't let anybody stop you from doing just that) and I am also not saying we should all become musical Gods (although the world might be a little brighter). I just think Freddie is a personality that was living proof how liberating it can be to accept your inner weirdness as uniqueness and use this weirdness to create absolute beauty. In my opinion people in general try way to much to fit in. Accept your weirdness and use it for good. Be more like Freddie, don't be boring. Be a legend.

Fantastic Beasts part 2.

My second cinematic experience here in Tuxtla was the second part of the Fantastic Beasts franchise. I was really looking forward to this movie. I have grown up while the Harry Potter Universe was unfolding so any story from the mind of J. K. Rowling will always fill me with some kind of nostalgic feelings. Furthermore I really loved the first movie of the Fantastic Beasts franchise and I think I was one of the only persons in the world who actually thought that Johnny Depp as Grindelwald was a casting-job well-done. The second movie wasn't bad, but it was a bit disappointing though. Special effects did certainly deliver and made me believe in magic again for two hours, but the storyline was confusing, they brought way to many elements in this movie and the actions of some characters were not at all credible (SPOILERALERT: I mean for example Queenie siding with Grindelwald, that's just complete bullocks right there)

Anyway, there was one (I do admit very cheesy, furthermore, if it's cheesy, I guess it is not Vegan... ) moment that I really liked. At some point, Dumbledore tells Newt: 'Do you know why I admire you, Newt? You do not seek power. You simply ask, "Is a thing... right?" '. I really loved this moment. Sometimes in some kind of macabre philosophical mood I imagine how people will remember me when I will have converted again to dust and ashes. I don't feel like people have to remember me, but if they do, I would like them to think about me in the way Dumbledore thinks about Newt. I am only human and I do suffer from pride, egocentrism and narcissism. But I aspire to do what's right. I aspire to keep questioning myself and my course of actions, to keep contemplating what is right and then as well to act on that. I do not aspire to find power, to be rich and wealthy, I do not aspire to find glory, I simply aspire to do what's right.

Best greetings,
